Manhattan Beach City Council

I am running for MB City Council because Manhattan Beach is my favorite place to be!

I love my hometown and have been a resident for over 26 years with my husband, Stefan and 2 children, Max and MJ.

Meet Rita

Rita and her husband, Stefan, moved to Manhattan Beach in 1996 to raise their 2 children, Max and MJ. The schools were outstanding and walk-street community welcoming. It was a bonus that they were able to play beach volleyball down at 4th street every weekend.

As a supervisor and clinical specialist in Speech/Language Pathology at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, Rita honed her skills in leadership, program development and research.  She developed many parent and staff education programs which required team collaboration, organization, and facilitation.

A move to Germany with the family opened new doors for involvement in community and schools; though every summer was spent back at home, Manhattan Beach. Permanently back in MB for the last 10 years, she has focused on outreach through housing, resource and work assistance to the unhoused population in our Beach Cities and DTLA.

Rita's entire life has been spent in service to others:

  • MBSAFE, Founding Board member, Homeless Connect Chair
  • South Bay Coalition to End Homelessness, member
  • Leadership Manhattan Beach 2022, Project Co-Chair
  • Certified Advanced Peer Specialist
  • Share! Collaborative Housing, volunteer
  • Saturday Blessings, Homeless outreach
  • Poll Staffer (Manhattan Beach)
  • PTA President, Chair of Fundraising (Munich International School, Bedford Village Elementary school, Fox Lane High School)
  • Neptunian Woman's Club, member
  • Co-Founded a Cleft Lip/Palate team that traveled to Nepal (“Team Planting”)
  • Youth Basketball coach, 8 years
  • Religious Education instructor, 10 years
  • Eucharistic Minister, American Martyrs Church

Rita has a passion for our beach city and its small-town charm with a vision of retaining the best of it and enriching its future. She brings a fresh voice and a new perspective and will represent EVERY resident of our town when elected to MB City Council!
